I've made many friends in the MFA program at ASU, but the one that will always be my tea time buddy is Master Tyler Griese. Together we became the art history nerds of the art department. Our conversations about light, human form, color, and composition in the masterworks of Caravaggio and Artemisia could last forever if we had and an endless supply of earl grey tea and biscuits.
Born in Kentucky, but should have been born British, Master Griese is sure to conquer the contemporary fine art world of painting! His understanding of capturing natural and artificial light in oils not only reveals an illusionistic space, but also a deeper essence within his subjects.
I am so lucky to have him as a close friend! The portrait of the two of us that captures our MFA exhaustion will always be my favorite!
