Sock It To Me Competition

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

I am not ashamed to say, that for the past three years, socks have successfully grown into an obsessive compulsion of mine— geographically proven by my overflowing drawer space. The colors, the patterns, the textures, the soft fuzzy feels, to the midsize and over the knee-highs—the possibilities are endless!

Therefore, it was my civic creative duty, to enter in the annual worldwide sock design contest, sponsored by Sock It To Me! With

1,978 total entries, and 94 countries globally represented, including Italy, Brazil, and India, the stakes were high. Nevertheless, I gave it my all! The given theme was "Unity," which proved to be quite challenging to represent in a sock, yet alone five. Yes, five original sock designs by yours truly!

And load and behold! The judges selected not one, but TWO of my designs ("U-Night" and "Bee-unity-ful") for the top thirty finalists. My toes wiggled with happiness! Now it was up to my family, friends, instagram followers, and the rest of the world to vote for the top ten! I climbed that voting rank like rocky running up the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum!

Ultimately, my babies didn't make it past 4th and 5th place. However, it was such an ironically surreal experience, how a socks that represented unity reconnected me with so many people I hadn't heard from in a long time. For that reason, I feel like a winner!
